Beagle V2 Camera: A New Watchdog for 3D Printers

Welcome back to Layer by Layer, a newsletter by Seraph Engineering. Today, we're excited to report on the release of Mintion's latest product, the Beagle V2 Camera! It is now available for pre-order.

The perfect 3D printing companion
The original Beaglecam was a game-changer for enhancing the 3D printing experience. It greatly improved our operations, and we wholeheartedly endorse it for all 3D printing content creators. People love watching timelapses of prints being made, and the Beaglecam is the perfect companion for capturing those moments.

The Beaglecam takes it a step further than your run of the mill camera, however. It is compatible with its dedicated app called Beagleprint that not only allows you to access these timelapse videos but also gives you control over your printer. As someone constantly on the go, being able to monitor and manage my prints remotely brings immense relief. Even when I'm away from our printer room, I can start a print as long as the printer is turned on.

New features
So, what's new with the Beagle V2? Well, first, they've ditched the original's floppy ear design :( for a sleeker and more modern look (though it still retains two ears). Jokes aside, the V2 appears more compact and no longer includes the round stand, opting instead for tripod compatibility, which is included. This change is excellent because we previously had to 3D print a stand for our Beaglecam to achieve the desired height and angle for our prints.

We had to create a mount for our Beaglecam to achieve the desired height. With the Beagle V2, you won't need to do this since it comes with a tripod.

Moreover, the major improvement is the ability to adjust the lens for achieving optimal focus. The Beagle V2 offers a true 1080p experience, which has become the industry standard. While Octoprint might be a more cost-effective and advanced option, Mintion makes the experience much easier with its plug-and-play capabilities. For individuals who aren't proficient in tinkering with 3D printers but still want to generate content or timelapse videos, the Beaglecam is the perfect choice.

Beaglecam has a place in the industry

While newer printers like the Prusa MK4, Bambu Lab P1P and X1C come equipped with built-in cameras, there's still significant space for Mintion's Beaglecam. It serves as the ideal companion for older (and even current) generation printers. We anticipate that future printers will come with built-in cameras, but not everyone will be able to afford those machines. Mintion provides an easy-to-use and competitively priced solution. We'll definitely be picking up the Beagle V2 for our older generation printers and will provide a thorough review once we do!
